Community Youth Worker – Employment Opportunity

JOB TITLE:  Community Youth Worker
PROGRAM:  Social Development
LOCATION: On-Reserve – One (1) Youth Worker per First Nation: Dauphin River, Kinonjeoshtegon, Little Saskatchewan, Pinaymootang, Lake Manitoba, Peguis
SALARY:       $15.00 Hourly


Under the direction and supervision of IRTC Tribal Youth Coordinator, the Community Youth Worker will manage the on-reserve “Income Assistance if not an Option” program.  The Community Youth Worker will be responsible to develop social skills capacity amongst youth living on-reserve.


  • Work closely with the IRTC Tribal Youth Coordinator
  • Report to the Income Assistance Administrator daily, who will be your main mentor at the work site (Social Development Office)
  • Promote the advantages of higher education, work training skills & entrepreneurship
  • Attend regular face-to-face, conference call and zoom meetings
  • Work in collaboration with other community programs
  • Deliver regular updates to IRTC Tribal Youth Coordinator, Chief and Council and at community meetings
  • Facilitate workshops in schools and other areas in the community
  • Perform daily office duties, self- activity logs, lesson plans, and individual service plan documents
  • Develop and maintain social media on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram


  • Must live on-reserve
  • Must be between the ages of 18 – 29 years
  • Must be on Social Assistance and willing to IA Benefits
  • Must have Grade 12 or higher completed education
  • More than 2 years, experience working with youth
  • Must have references that include your ability to maintain highly confidential information and your ability to get along with others in the office and in the community
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of community resources on and off reserve available to youth
  • Must have a class 5 drivers license, have access to a registered and reliable vehicle and ability to travel
